What kind of exercise can I do in my home?

By admin | April 15, 2010

I want to lose weight, but am ashamed of exercising in public due to my size. I’m eating more healthily, but that alone is not enough to cause the kind of weight loss I need.

I can’t afford to buy gym equipment.

Is there any exercise I can do in my home to lose weight?

I go to the library and check out various "for beginners" and "dummies" and "wimps" videos and dvds. (Now, all I have to do is put one in the machine. =) If your library uses the dewey decimal system, they are mostly in the 613.xxx section.

Seriously, though, this is a good way to find the type of exercise that works best for you without spending a bunch of money on videos or equipment.

    My absolute best to you!

ktrb has very good advice, as well. Yoga and Pilates are concepts I can stay with forever!

You can try doing curl ups, push ups everyday. Also you could alway go out walking or bike riding. That always work for me.

Sit ups, Jumping jacks, jogging, punching bag

I’d reccomend doing this with like extra buckly clothes on to make you sweat more.

Can you get 15 bucks to get some dumbells?
If you couldn’t, you can just use soup cans or something

    bicep curls
    shoulder press
    pushups
    sit ups
    crunches
    squats
    lunges

    its endless

    go to fitness.com
it’ll show you exercises for muscle groups and it even lets you create a workout plan.

    good luck!

Buy an exercise ball, they are only like /£5!

Alsoo get some exercise videos, borrow them off people or get them from the library if you don’t want to buy them.

Do squats, crunches and stuff. Ooh also on youtube there are some exercise regimes.

You can start doing yoga and basic pilates without buying any equipment. Leg lifts, crunches, and so on are easy to start out with. Walking is actually a very good exercise, and you don’t really look like you’re exercising — you’re just going somewhere. And if you can afford it, buy two 5-lb weights; if you build up even a little muscle mass, that’ll help burn calories. And as you become more confident, you’ll be able to exercise in public. If you go to a public gym, most everyone is too focussed on themselves to pay much attention to you.

I’ve tried EVERY DVD workout EVER and most are rubbish. The only ones I stick with because they’re brilliant are the Billy Blanks Tae-Bo ones. You get sick of him after a while, but once you know the routines you can do them while you watch anything you want.

Go outside and dig the garden.
Work until you sweat and work some more.
The only real way to lose weight is to work physically hard and eat less(reduce your calorie in-take).

yoga, or running up and down stairs, or just any exercise like touching your toes and things like that.

sign up to spark people, they have a load of exercises that can be done at home and it shows you how to do them. also you could run up and down your stairs at home. or lock yourself in a room where no-one can see you whack some music on full blast and go wild, thats pretty good.

    Yoga is perfect!

The equipment is very cheap (if you want it) but you don’t really need it. Yoga also helps to relieve stress and is a very relaxing thing to do.

All of the answers given by other people are also very good ways.

This is a great question to ask, as i am sure many will star this, due to it being a part of their new years res.

Like you and most people, out there. I, too am one who feels silly going to the gym or taking a jog around the block. And i suppose, why go out in the cold, when you can exercise in the comfort of your own home!

Getting started is always a mental workout from the start, i often look to purchasing fitness videos that focus on points of your body that will help retone and reshape.

Avoid celebrities dvds, as often as they are glorioufied with their botox team on stand by, and no doubt – a lookilike bum or double as some call to add that extra false glamour to the staring role.

I always do crunches, these often work for me focusing on my belly, love handles and thighs.
