If you hurt for a week, something is wrong. Is the pain in the bicep or other muscle or more centered in the elbow or shoulder area? Be specific as to location, like front of shoulder, side or back or front of elbow.

you should get used to it. keep with heavy weights so you can do 12-15 reps with a bit of a struggle and do 3-4 sets. you’ll only get bigger by lifting bigger but take your time. eat lots of protein after a work out for quicker recovery.

im 20 yrs old and about 130 pounds.. weight of my dumbbells is not the problem but i keep hearing these reps & sets.. so what i understand is 1set = like 15 reps(its only an example).. so if someone tells me 3 sets.. so logically i’ll be doing a 45 reps.. so the question is is it like 1 set per hour.. like at 1:00PM i started a set(then a bit of rest).. then at 2:00PM ill gonna do another set?

@universalmuiscgroup
No
To correct your example:
You take 15 reps then rest for about 45-80 seconds and then continue with another 15 reps, then rest for 45-80 seconds and then the last 45 reps
You should try searching for “Scott Herman Fitness” here on youtube, he has an awesome channel and is very good at responding someone’s messages.
Best Wishes

A “set’ is the number of reps you do WITHOUT resting inbetween. You should only rest briefy between sets. How long depends on the particular exercise and weight lifted. You do NOT rest an hour or more. For bicep curls, you would typically rest between 30 seconds and 90 seconds between sets, doing three or four sets in a series all at once, otherwise you defeat the purpose and never will get to muscle fatigue which is what forces muscles to grow.

@universalmuiscgroup
You do one set at around 6:00 am and then you do your 2nd set around 6 pm and then your final 3rd set at 12:00 am and repeat till you gain your weight goal.

April 12th, 2010 at 3:23 pm
Good advice ..but i was told to inhale as you bring the weight up not exhale, the reason for this is so that your muscles are getting the oxygen needed.
