By admin | April 12, 2010

that is pretty much fast jogging/running.. i think 6.0 is already jogging, while a fast walk would be around 4-4.5, all this depends on your fitness, of course.

uhhh, ever beein on a treadmill going 7.7 mph??? Its a pretty good jogging pace if you are a male with long legs and a good running pace for someone like me who’s a girl and short.
Granted, I’m a wus, but I usually run at 6-6.5 mph for most of my run and for the last .25 of my run, I’ll sprint at 9 mph (if that helps you gague anything!)

I’ve been to ofsaa cross-country before, and I run my runs in roughly 7 mph. That is note my race pace, but it is a pretty good pace to work at. It will definately help the cardio. When I hit the treads, I go at 6.0 – 6.5 mph.

I wouldn’t call it a run, but I wouldn’t call it a fast walk either… its kind of in some in between stage (Obviously this depends on fitness level, just making an overall statement such as this is completely subjective). Figure running 7.7mph is like a 7:45-50 mile pace. When I was in shape (albeit not as of late) this was a jog. Normal runs would be sub-7 pace, somewhere around 6:45-50 per mile, or about 8.8-9.0 mph. That would be a standard, relatively relaxed run at that time.

Nowadays, that would be a relatively quick run for me, as I’ve gotten busy with some other things and am out of shape during the last year. So whether or not it is fast enough, is totally dependent on the situation at hand. What may be fast enough for someone else may in fact be either too fast or too slow for the next person. If you are comfortable, and can run this pace for a while, than perhaps it is jsut right for you. If it feels easy, then perhaps you could increase your pace gradually.

    Good Luck

7.7 is about 7:50 pace per mile. It sounds like a pretty good pace but it depends on your age, fitness level and how many minutes you run.

I usually run on the treadmill at a 6.4 or 9:22 pace for 50 minutes but I am over 55.

Depends how long you’re going for. I’m a girl (5’4" so I’m quite short!) and I go at that pace for 1hour straight. The last 10mins are gradually increased so I reach 11.3mph. If you’re a grown man and rather tall, 7.7mph probably isn’t that fast.
It definately wouldn’t be a fast walk. I can only just catch up with 5.0mph if I’m walking….maybe it’s because by legs are short. As a guideline, I class anything over 6.0mph as jogging. 6.0mph being EXTREMELY slow.
