that does seem to be the stereotpe. but theres nothing wrong with breaking it. (in this case, it would be very healthy). people should balance. and i dont see the weight rack labeled "for men" or the treadmills "for women"……just the bathrooms.

    I joined a gym in July, I’m 43.
I do 30 – 40 minutes cardio and then go for the weights!!!
That’s old thinking that weights are only for men!!

I thin this mythology is pretty much debunked. Before my surgery I did body pump 3 times a week for a couple of years. The class was usually 15 women to 5 men. Some of the women were lifting more weight than the men!

In the gym itself the trainers give both sexes all activities to do in their programs.

I go to the gym 6 day’s a week and do weight training and fat burning exercises. Most of the other women who go there do the same.Exercising this way gives an all round body workout. The men tend to use the really heavy weights and the women use the lighter weights and weight machines. We are all there for the same reason and the men and the women respect each others choices. If i just wanted to do cardio vascular exercises i could jog around the park but i wanted to strengthen my muscles and shape my limbs as well and i have no embarrassment with using the weights.Gone are the day’s when women just use the treadmill and rowing machine. In 6 weeks i saw a change in my physique and although i will never weight train to develop huge muscles i look and feel so much better.I can do more each week but still keep it at a level that suits my size.Give it a go,it’s great.

i do a mix of of cardio and weights. although i must admit i spend a lot more time in the cardio section than i do in weights but that’s because i don’t wanna end up looking like Michelin man and sometimes its so packed with men going umm, ahh which makes me think if its so heavy why don’t u put it down and pick a ligther one. i usually cant stand that so i don’t spend so much time there
